about

This album is my first. Perhaps it is more like a really really elaborate demo. That being said, it still took a tremendous amount of time, effort, and generosity to make happen, especially by the legendary Donal Scullion. In the end it became a transcontinental process and a huge learning experience. It was a true collaboration throughout, and for that I am very thankful to the talented musicians and artists that offered their skills to the project. Each song has a story and unfolding. Take Song for Sarah. This NPR inspired piece was written in honor of a woman I'd never met, but whose moving story from the Iraq war I felt compelled to preserve. Never did I imagine that last Christmas I would receive an email from Sarah after she heard her song (how she heard it is another great story), nor that she would become my friend and thus my most unexpected reason for joining Facebook. Wild world! There are many mysteries and delights from our efforts at creation, as vulnerable as they might be to share. For all that feels unfinished about these songs, the adventure in making them has been a beginning and a joy. I hope there is something here for you to enjoy too.

about

Ada Ketchie Seattle, Washington

Most of my songs are sung spontaneously and quickly forgotten. Some, for unknown reasons, are elaborated upon. Few get recorded. All are an honest attempt at giving voice to something of this life, be it silly, serious or otherwise. So, you are welcome to listen. This is me playing with words, melodies, stories and meaning making. Its an ongoing and evolving endeavor. I don't think I can help it. ... more
